Overview
Rabbit is the managed print system used at Foothill's main campus, the Sunnyvale campus, De Anza College and Central Services. Instead of sending your job to one specific printer, you send it to a server and pick it up at whichever Rabbit printer is most convenient for you.
Your job stays on the server for three calendar days, or until you print it — whichever comes first.
Before you start: You need the Rabbit print driver installed on your computer.

Print a document
1. Send the job from your computer
Open your document and choose Print from your Windows or Macintosh computer, the same way you normally would.
Select the Rabbit managed print queue as your printer.
Send the job. It is now held on the server, waiting for you to release it.
You can walk to any Rabbit printer at Foothill, Sunnyvale, De Anza or Central Services to pick it up.
2. Sign in at the printer
Each printer has a card reader. On the full-size standing models it sits just to the right of and slightly below the display panel. On the desktop units it is directly behind the display panel.
With your ID card: swipe your employee ID card and your credentials are entered automatically.
Without your ID card: enter your CWID and password manually. These are the same employee ID number and password you use for the portal, your email and campus Wi-Fi.
3. Release your print job
If you have something waiting, a message at the top of the screen tells you that you have one or more print jobs pending.
Choose Print All to print everything that is pending, or Print Release to choose a specific job and see more options.
To change settings, tap the right-facing arrow on the side of the screen. You can set the number of copies, color or grayscale, and paper size.
Select your department or division from the menu. If you don't see yours, use the search.
Confirm and collect your printout.
Choose carefully: The department or division selection cannot be undone once you make it. De Anza currently has only a couple of choices (instructional and non-instructional) while Foothill has many department choices.
There is a small cost for printing, which is charged to the account you select. Ignore the cost window at the bottom of the screen, it is not used.
Make copies
Load your originals. Letter-size documents go into the automatic feeder face up. Large originals, such as a newspaper, go face down on the glass plate.
Sign in by swiping your ID card or entering your CWID and password.
Select Device Functions.
Choose your options: color or grayscale, one- or two-sided, the number of copies, and more.
Start the job and collect your copies.
Scan a document or photo
Scanning works much like copying, and there is no cost for scanning.
Load your document. Letter-size pages go into the auto feeder; larger documents and photos go face down on the glass plate.
Sign in at the printer.
Choose where the scan should go: your email address or your OneDrive cloud account. Because you are already signed in, the system knows your email address and can upload to your OneDrive storage.
Check the file name. The system names the file automatically and includes the date of the scan. To change it, type a new name in the field.
Choose the file type. PDF is typical for text documents; TIFF and JPEG are used for photos and graphic images.
Run the scan. The system sends the file to the location you chose.
Sign out
The printer logs you out automatically after about one minute of inactivity, which prevents anyone else from using your account. If you are finished early, sign out manually before you walk away.
