About the Managed Print System / Rabbit Printers

Foothill–De Anza uses a district-wide Managed Print System (MPS) — a fleet of shared Ricoh printers, known as the Rabbit printers, located throughout Foothill, De Anza, and the Sunnyvale Center. Instead of printing to one specific machine, you print to a single secure queue called SecurePrint. Your document is held there until you walk up to any Rabbit printer on any campus and release it by swiping your campus ID card (or signing in at the printer's panel).

This "follow-me" approach means your documents are never left sitting in an output tray for others to see, you're not tied to a single printer — if one is busy or down, release your job at the next one — and unclaimed jobs simply expire instead of being printed and wasted.

All you need is:

  • The Rabbit printer set up on your district computer
  • Your CWID and MyPortal password (or campus ID card)

Getting Started

  1. Install the correct printer driver for your computer.
  2. Print from your computer, make copies at a printer or scan a document and send it to your email.

Common Issues

Job stuck at "Waiting", "Stopped", or asking to authenticate
This typically happens when your saved password is stale, usually after a password change. Follow the steps under the Just changed your MyPortal password? section of help for your operating system: Mac | Windows.

If printing still fails:
  • For Mac: Delete the rabbitprint keychain entry AND remove/re-add the printer, then print and re-authenticate fresh.
  • For Windows: Restart the computer so the print spooler picks up the new credentials, and print again.
"Unable to start job", error printing, or the job vanishes
This often happens when there is an issue with the printer driver. REfreshing the driver will usually solve this issue.

To refresh/reinstall your printer driver:
  • For Mac: Remove the Rabbit printer (System Settings → Printers & Scanners → select it → Remove) and re-add it using the setup steps fo Mac — this refreshes the driver, which fixes most cases.
  • For Windows: Remove the printer (Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners → select it → Remove) and re-add it using the setup steps for Windows — this refreshes the driver, which fixes most cases.
