Campus Wi-Fi for Employees

As an FHDA employee you connect to the College WiFi network, available everywhere on campus. You sign in with your CWID (your MyPortal login ID) and your MyPortal password. Once you connect, your device reconnects automatically.

If you change your MyPortal password, you’ll need to reconnect to College WiFi with the new password—the same way you re-enter it on your phone for district email.

Connect your device

Choose your device below for step-by-step instructions.

iPhone & iPad (iOS / iPadOS)
  1. Open Settings → Wi-Fi and tap College WiFi.
  2. Enter your CWID as the username and your MyPortal password, then tap Join.
  3. When the certificate screen appears, tap More Details and confirm the Organizational Unit shows “Validated.”
  4. Tap < Certificate to go back, then tap Trust in the top-right corner.

If you do not see “Validated”, don’t continue—submit a help request so it can be checked.

Android
  1. Open Settings → Connections → Wi-Fi (wording varies by phone) and tap College WiFi.
  2. Set EAP method to PEAP.
  3. Set Phase 2 authentication to MSCHAPV2.
  4. Set CA certificate to Use system certificates.
  5. In the Domain field, enter fhda.edu (no “www”).
  6. Enter your CWID in the Identity field and leave Anonymous identity blank.
  7. Enter your MyPortal password, then tap Connect.
Windows 10 & 11
  1. Select the network icon in the taskbar, choose College WiFi, then click Connect.
  2. Enter your CWID and MyPortal password, then click OK.
  3. If Windows asks whether you expect to find College WiFi here, click Connect.
Mac (macOS)
  1. Click the Wi-Fi icon in the menu bar and choose College WiFi.
  2. Enter your CWID and MyPortal password, then click Join.
  3. When the Verify Certificate window appears, click Continue.
  4. If prompted, enter your Mac’s username and password to save the setting.
Chromebook
  1. Click the time in the bottom-right corner, then select Wi-Fi → College WiFi.
  2. Set EAP method to PEAP.
  3. Enter your CWID in the Identity field and your MyPortal password in the Password field.
  4. Click Connect.

Sponsoring a Campus Visitor

Vendors and visiting colleagues use the Campus Visitor network, and every FHDA employee can sponsor one. When a visitor submits a request listing your name and FHDA email, you’ll receive an email asking you to confirm it.

  1. In that email, click on the link that says "click here to begin the approval process".
  2. Sign in with your MyPortal credentials.
  3. Choose an account expiration—the number of consecutive days the visitor may use the network.
  4. Click Confirm. The visitor’s form then updates with an expiration date, a password, and an active Log In button.

Security: if you do not recognize the requester, click Reject. Only approve visitors you know.

Need to point a visitor to instructions? Send them to the Wi-Fi for Guests & Visitors page.

Troubleshooting

I can’t connect in a particular room or area

The signal may be too weak there—try moving to a different spot. If it still won’t connect, confirm your login works by signing in to MyPortal (College WiFi uses the same CWID and password).

I’m asked to choose a network type

Choose WPA2 AES.

It keeps asking for my password, or I changed my MyPortal password

Tell your device to “forget” College WiFi, then reconnect with your current CWID and MyPortal password:

  • iPhone/iPad: Settings → Wi-Fi → tap College WiFi → Forget This Network.
  • Android: Settings → Wi-Fi → tap the gear next to College WiFi → Forget.
  • Windows: Settings → Network & Internet → Wi-Fi → Manage known networks → College WiFi → Forget.
  • Mac: System Settings → Wi-Fi → College WiFi → Forget This Network.

Then reconnect using the steps for your device above.
