Problems Logging In to MyPortal

You sign in to MyPortal (myportal.fhda.edu) with your campuswide ID (CWID) and password, then confirm with Duo. When login fails, the fix depends on the symptom — find yours below. First time ever logging in, or forgot your password? Start with First-Time Login & Password Help.”

Common Problems and Solutions when Logging In

“Login Failed” — username/password combination could not be found

Your CWID is the 8-digit number itself — no @fhda.edu after it. Passwords are case-sensitive; check Caps Lock and trailing spaces when pasting.

Brand-new applicant? Your account may not exist yet — CCCApply processing can take up to 30 minutes at busy times, and at least 24 hours for nonresident applications, which are reviewed manually.

First-time login: try your initial password (usually birth date, MMDDYYYY).

Still failing? Reset your password via the “I don't know my password” link — don't keep guessing; too many failures locks the account (students: A&R unlocks it; employees: call ETS).

Page won't load, spins forever, or apps won't open after sign-in

A stale browser cache is the usual cause — especially after MyPortal updates. Clear your browser's cache, cookies, and history, or simply try a private/incognito window: if incognito works, cached data was the problem.

Update your browser. For security, MyPortal does not support browser versions more than two years old. Current Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari all work.

Old bookmark? Type myportal.fhda.edu directly and re-save the bookmark on the new page.

MyPortal runs 24/7, but brief maintenance windows happen. Wait a few minutes; if it's still down, report it: 408-864-8324.

You never get the Duo prompt, or Duo blocks you

This is a Duo problem, not a password problem. New phone, reinstalled app, no pushes arriving — see Duo Troubleshooting and Fixes.”

Locked out right now? Call the Help Desk for a temporary bypass code.

“Account disabled” — especially part-time or temporary employees (TEAs)

District accounts are driven by your employment assignment in the HR system. When an assignment ends or lapses between quarters, the account is automatically disabled — and features tied to it (Adobe Sign workflows, Banner, email) stop working too.

The fix is not an ETS reset: your division office or HR must enter/renew your assignment. Contact your division administrator first; once the assignment is active, access returns automatically.

Starting a new quarter and suddenly locked out? This is almost always the cause.

Works on one device but not another

Your account is fine — the failing device has a stale saved password. Very common right after a password change:

• Saved campus Wi-Fi keeps retrying the old password and can lock your account — forget and rejoin Wi-Fi with the new password on every device.

• The Rabbit printer stores your password too — see the printing articles to update it.

• Browser autofill may be supplying the old password — update the saved login.

A card or app seems to be missing

MyPortal's homepage is card-based, and features are sometimes reorganized rather than removed. Open the navigation menu (hamburger icon, upper right) → Discover, and search for the app by name.

Session-cookie error when making a payment

The TouchNet payment system requires your browser to accept session cookies. In your browser's privacy settings, allow cookies for myportal.fhda.edu (and secure.touchnet.net), or temporarily relax cookie blocking, complete the payment, and restore your settings.

A private/incognito window with default settings often works when a heavily customized browser profile won't.
