First-time Login and Password Help

MyPortal (myportal.fhda.edu) is the gateway to registration, email, Canvas links, employee tools, and more. This guide covers your very first login, finding your campuswide ID, and resetting a lost password.

What is my campuswide ID (CWID)?

Your username is always your 8-digit campuswide ID (CWID).

  • Students: your CWID is your student ID. New applicants and financial-aid students: it's at the top of your college confirmation email. Continuing students who've lost it: contact Admissions & Records — Foothill (650) 949-7325 / [email protected], De Anza (408) 864-5300 / [email protected].
  • Employees: your CWID is your employee ID — you can find it on your pay stub.
  • On the MyPortal login page, the “What is my campuswide ID?” link can also help you look it up.

Logging in for the first time

  1. Go to https://myportal.fhda.edu in a current browser.
  2. Enter your CWID as the username.
  3. Enter your initial password. For students this is usually your eight-digit date of birth in MMDDYYYY format. Employees: this may also be your birth date, or the same as your time-sheet password.
  4. Click Submit. You'll be prompted to set a permanent password and enroll in Duo two-step verification (see the Duo setup article).

New students: your account is created after your CCCApply application is processed — this can take up to half an hour during busy times, and at least 24 hours if you were identified as a nonresident (those applications are reviewed manually). If login fails right after applying, wait and try again before assuming something is wrong.

Forgot your password? Reset it yourself

  1. On the MyPortal login page, click the “I don't know my password” (Reset Password) link.
  2. In the pop-up, click “reset it here” — this takes you to the Account Self-Service form.
  3. Enter your campuswide ID and click Go, then follow the prompts. You'll receive an email notification shortly.

Passwords are case-sensitive — watch Caps Lock, and note any lowercase requirements shown on the reset form. After changing your password, update it anywhere it's saved (campus Wi-Fi, the Rabbit printer, browser autofill) — stale saved passwords are the top cause of lockouts in the days after a reset.

Locked out?

Too many failed login attempts will lock your account. Students: contact Admissions & Records to unlock it. Employees: call the ETS Help Desk. Then reset your password if you're unsure of it, rather than guessing again.

No computer? Use a campus lab

  • Foothill: Student Success Center or the Media Center.
  • De Anza: Open Media Lab, lower level of Learning Center West (next to the Library).
