Adobe Creative Cloud for Faculty and Staff

This article is for active Foothill–De Anza employees. It explains how district Adobe licensing works, how to sign in and download the applications, and what happens to your access when your employment ends.

How the license works

  • Adobe uses named user licensing: your license is tied to your FHDA employee account, not to a specific computer.
  • All active FHDA employees have access to the full Creative Cloud suite of applications, including Acrobat.
  • You can install the software on up to three (3) computers in total, and one of them can be a personally owned home computer.
  • You do not need to submit an ETS Request for Help to get Adobe software. Only submit a ticket if you run into problems downloading or installing it.

You lose everything the moment you are no longer an active employee — including at retirement. Access to the applications ends on all devices, and any files you stored in the Adobe cloud become unreachable. Regularly download or back up your Adobe cloud files to local storage or another cloud service, and do a final backup before you separate or retire.

Sign in and download apps

  1. In a browser, go to www.adobe.com.
  2. Click Sign In at the top right.
  3. In the email address field, type your campuswide ID followed by @fhda.edu (for example, [email protected]), then click Continue.
  4. You may briefly see a Redirecting you to sign in… message, then the FHDA login screen appears. Sign in with your MyPortal ID and password.
  5. On your Adobe home screen, click Download Apps under Creative Cloud to install the latest versions of the applications you need.

If you received an Adobe welcome email inviting you to get started, click Get Started in the email and follow the same sign-in steps above.

Frequently asked questions

I pay for Adobe Acrobat personally. Can I cancel my subscription?

If the subscription is for work you do as an FHDA employee, you can cancel it and use the district license instead. Before you cancel, download anything stored in that personal Adobe account to your local drive — you lose access to files in a canceled subscription. Keep in mind the district license only lasts while you are an active employee.

Can I install Adobe on my home computer?

Yes. You may install on a personally owned device as one of your three allowed computers and work from home. Access on all devices, including personal ones, ends when your active employee or faculty assignment ends.

What happens when I retire or leave the district?

Your access ends immediately on every device, and files uploaded to the Adobe cloud are no longer reachable. Back up your Adobe cloud files before your last day.

Do I need to ask ETS to install Adobe for me?

No. You can download and install the applications yourself using the steps above. Submit a ticket only if the download or installation fails.
