This article is for FHDA faculty and staff. Employee email and calendars run on Office 365 Outlook in the cloud. Here's how to sign in from a browser, through MyPortal, or on a mobile device.
Sign in from a browser
- Go to outlook.office.com.
- In the email address field, type your campuswide ID followed by @fhda.edu (for example, [email protected]) and continue.
- At the FHDA login screen, sign in with your MyPortal ID and password.
- The first time you sign in, select your language and the (UTC-08:00) Pacific Time time zone, then click Save. Give it a minute to sync your email.
If you have an old bookmark for email.fhda.edu, replace it with outlook.office.com.
Sign in through MyPortal
- Log in to MyPortal and go to your staff applications.
- Click the Office 365 tile.
- Once Office 365 launches, click the Outlook icon to open your email.
Note that MyPortal automatically logs you out after 15 minutes of inactivity, so bookmark outlook.office.com if you keep email open all day.
Set up email on a phone or tablet
The simplest option is the Microsoft Outlook mobile app, available from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Sign in with your CWID followed by @fhda.edu and your MyPortal password. If you use the Outlook app, read about the Focused Inbox setting in Outlook Email and Calendar Tips and Common Questions so messages don't seem to go missing.
If you prefer your device's built-in mail app, add a new account and choose the Exchange account type, then enter your email address in the form [email protected] and sign in with your MyPortal ID and password.
ETS does not support personally owned devices. The steps above are provided as a courtesy, and most setups work without help, but ETS can't troubleshoot your personal phone, tablet, or home computer. If email works in the browser but not in a personal app, the account itself is fine.
Outlook desktop application
You can use the Outlook desktop program with your CWID and MyPortal password, but ETS does not fully support it. Nearly all of its features are available in the Office 365 Outlook web application, which is the supported and recommended way to use district email.
Mailbox storage
Cloud email accounts include 50 GB of storage, and you may be unable to send mail once you approach the limit. To save space, upload documents to your Office 365 OneDrive and email a link instead of attaching files — especially for campus-wide or district-wide messages. If you need advice on archiving email, submit an ETS Request for Help.
