Cybersecurity: Report a Concern

Urgent? Call First

If your account may be compromised, you clicked a suspicious link, you see a ransom message, or a device is lost or stolen, call the ETS Help Desk at 408-864-8324, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Do not wait to fill out the form.

You will not get in trouble for reporting something that turns out to be harmless.

What to Do First

If you already clicked or shared your password

  1. Change your password right away, from a different device if you can.
  2. Deny any Duo prompts you did not start.
  3. Call the Help Desk. Fast reporting limits the damage.
  4. Leave the device as it is. Disconnect it from Wi-Fi or the network cable if you can, but do not wipe it, delete files, or try to fix it yourself.

If something looks suspicious and you have not acted on it

  1. Stop. Do not click links, open attachments, reply, or share codes.
  2. Verify another way. Go to the site using a bookmark or by typing the address. Contact the sender using a phone number or email address you already have.
  3. Report it using the steps below.
  4. Delete the message after you report it.

What to Report

Report any of the following, even if you are not sure.

  • A suspicious email, text, or call that uses District names, logos, or systems
  • A link you clicked or an attachment you opened that you now doubt
  • A password, Duo code, or other sign-in detail you shared
  • A Duo prompt you did not start
  • Signs that someone else has used your account
  • A device that is behaving strangely or showing a ransom message
  • A lost or stolen device that holds District data or accounts
  • Student, employee, or financial information sent or shared with the wrong person
  • Someone you do not recognize in a secured area, or asking for access to systems or equipment

Not sure what counts? See What to Look For.

Lost or stolen devices

Call the Help Desk, and file a report with Foothill-De Anza District Police.

Report Form

The form takes about five minutes. It helps to have these ready:

  • What happened, and when you noticed it
  • The account, device, or system involved
  • What you clicked, opened, or entered, if anything
  • A screenshot of the suspicious message or screen

Do not include passwords, Duo codes, or the sensitive information itself. Describe it in general terms. ETS will never ask for your password.

What Happens Next

  1. You receive an email confirming that your report was sent.
  2. The ETS security will review it, typically within one business day.
  3. Someone may contact you for more detail. Keep the suspicious message or device as it is until you hear back.
  4. If the issue affects other people, ETS posts a notice on Incidents and Updates.
