A. Experience and Best Practice from other departments
- Project website url: http://ets.fhda.edu/projects/district-website-conversion
- Guideline to keep to a maximum of three clicks
- It doesn't need to be 100% when you go live. It will be a work in progress.
- Think about your audience
-
- Foundation – theme driven design for donors
- ETS – functional driven design; looking for help
- Slider topics: Big initiatives the dept. is working on
- Tiles: System status, find answers to most common questions
- HR – position driven design; users find info by job classification
- Purchasing (on-going) – Process driven design
- Slider geared towards external customers
- Tiles for internal users
- Business office - TBD How do you want to present the info in a logical way? What is the primary focus? What common questions come your way? Forms can be listed alphabetically and also can be found under other tiles by category.
- Reviewed the mock-up of the district landing page. May want to redo the business link to "business services"
- Internal vs. external info: The goal is have internal info accessible possibly through myportal, but upgrading myportal will be happening in the near future so the timing of both needs to be planned out.
- Next step:
- Decide on the small group who will be responsible for the editing. They must be able to commit time to work on the site regularly and review with the sub-departments.
- Schedule Training
- Schedule Weekly Project meetings
- Decide on Slider and tile topics. Decide how you would like to organize your info; not necessary what follows the org. chart.
