How to Set an E-mail Vacation Message

 

Launch NCSA Telnet. From the File Menu, choose Open Connection . . .

In the Host/Session Name box, type mercury.fhda.edu Click on the Connect button.
host name: telnet host name dialog
For the login:, type your "ugly" name (your initials + some meaningless numbers).
Hit the Tab key and type in your password. Hit the Return key.

The MAIN Menu appears. Hit the DOWN arrow on the keyboard until the arrow on the screen is pointing to the SETUPS line. Hit the Return key.

The SETUPS Menu appears. Use the DOWN arrow on the keyboard to manuever to VACATION. Hit the Return key.

The VACATION Menu appears. Choose #3 to Create or Edit a message. Once a message has been created, choose #1 to set the message to ON. After your vacation, come back to this area and choose #1 again to set the message back to OFF. Choose #5 to Exit this menu and have your changes take effect.

Use the DOWN arrow on the keyboard to manuever to DONE. Hit the Return key. Use the DOWN arrow on the keyboard to manuever to LO to logoff the system. Hit the Return key. Quit Telnet.
