1. APPROVAL OF THE
MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING
· Will stand
approved as posted
2. GENERAL NEWS
· The most accurate location for an ETAC meeting is the one
listed in the e-mail sent to all committee members the day before each meeting
· The wireless project at Foothill
Getting
very specific proposals from vendors
Have narrowed it down to two vendors Cisco &
3Com
Will probably make a decision in a couple of weeks
Would
like to do a joint effort from vendors to do both campuses with one contract
Will
start this fall on the FH campus with a limited number of buildings as a pilot
The pilot will help work out technical and security
issues
The
plan is to have the whole FH campus with wireless accessibility, a year from
this fall
Still
need to work out the details for the DA campus
3. SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS
HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE STANDARDS
· Hardware & Software Standards Committee (Willie)
None
4. TECHNOLOGY STRATEGIC
PLAN WHAT ARE OUR ASSUMPTIONS ABOUT OUR STUDENTS? OUR FACULTY? OUR STAFF?
·
Today is the last day to do
assumptions
Before
the next meeting, Willie will take all assumptions along with other related
work, pertaining to the Strategic Plan, and put together a draft
· The next
meeting will begin with work on goals (broad high level goals) and the
strategies to reach those goals
· Hope to
have, by early spring quarter, a draft ready for final review, by ETAC
After
ETACs approval, the strategic plan can then be taken to the appropriate
governance groups on each campus
· Each campus
group discussed and came up with their assumptions about students, faculty and
staff for the next five years
Willie
recorded the assumptions for the FH group
Scott
Heffner recorded the assumptions for the DA group
· After all
the assumptions have been compiled, Willie will send them out for rating by
committee members
· Willie will look for an article, on line, that he read
in the Sunday Times and will send it out
The article is about students needing to learn about information literacy, and
critical thinking knowledge of what a reliable source is (which is needed
across the curriculum)
5. OTHER ITEMS FROM THE
