Email and Portal: What is my username, address, and password?

Macintosh OS 9 - 9.2

Requirements

1. You must be on a computer connected to the FHDA Network or to the Internet if you are at home.

2. You must have a Telnet application (Tera Term, NCSA Telnet, PuTTY, MS Telnet, etc.) installed on your computer. These instructions use NCSA Telnet, which comes standard on District computers.

Instructions

1. Locate and launch the Telnet application.

2. Go to the File menu, and select Open Connection.

3. In the Host/Session Name field type hello.fhda.edu and click on the Connect button.

4. At the login prompt type hello and press the Return key on your keyboard.

5. At the password: prompt type NewUser (all one word with a capital N and a capital U) , then press the Return key on your keyboard. YOU WILL NOT SEE THE TEXT APPEAR.

6. Enter your Social Security Number when prompted (with no hyphens, just the numbers), then press the Return key on your keyboard.

7. If this is your correct Social Security Number, type y at the prompt, then press the Return key on your keyboard. If you type n you are indicating that you did not enter the correct number and you will be prompted to re-enter your Social Security Number.

8. Your account information will be displayed on screen for 45 seconds. Please write down Your Account Login (otherwise referred to as your username or "ugly name"), and Your password (case sensitive). The password shown is your default password (the first password, automatically assigned to your account). If you have changed your password, the new password will not be reflected here. If you have forgotten your password please call the ETS Call Center, and we will have it set back to your default password.

Macintosh OS 10 - 10.2

Requirements:

1. You must be on a computer connected to the FHDA Network or to the Internet if you are at home.

2. You must be using Macintosh OS 10.

Instructions:

1. Double-click on your Mac hard drive icon.

2. Open the Applications folder.

3. Open the Utilities folder.

4. Double-click on the “Terminal” application icon.

5. Go to the File menu down to Connect to Server.

6. Click on "Remote Login (telnet)" under Service.

7. Click on the right side plus sign.

8. Enter hello.fhda.edu in the dialog box that appears, then click on OK.

9. Select "hello.fhda.edu" under Server.

10. Click on the Connect button.

11. The log in prompt should be blank. If you see anything there, press the return key twice. This will take you to a blank log in. At the login prompt type hello and press the Return key.

12. At the password: prompt type NewUser (all one word with a capital N and a capital U) , then press the Return key. YOU WILL NOT SEE THE TEXT APPEAR .

13. Enter your Social Security Number when prompted (with no hyphens, just the numbers), then press the Return key.

Windows NT/2000/XP

Requirements

Instructions:

1. Go to the Start button and click on Run.

2. In the Open field type telnet hello.fhda.edu then click on the Ok button.

3. At the login: prompt type hello and press the Enter key on your keyboard.

4. At the password: prompt type NewUser (all one word with a capital N and a capital U). YOU WILL NOT SEE THE TEXT APPEAR. Press the Enter key on your keyboard.

5. Enter your Social Security Number when prompted (with no hyphens, just the numbers. YOU WILL NOT SEE THE LETTERS APPEAR ), then press the Enter key on your keyboard.
