Email FAQ: How do I receive HTML formatted email using Eudora?

ETS is no longer producing a paper copy of NewsBytes, our biweekly news bulletin for FHDA Community College District Administrators, Faculty and Staff. This effort is being made not only save the District money in printing costs but also to make distribution much more efficient. The new electronic version, sent by email, uses HTML formatting to make the e-NewsBytes seem more like the paper version that you are used to.

HTML formatted email is a growing medium for Internet communications. Configuring Eudora to view HTML will not only allow you to view the biweekly copy of NewsBytes, but also any other correspondences you may receive.

Macintosh OS 9 - 9.2

Requirements:
1. The Eudora email client version 5.0 through 5.2 installed and configured on your computer.

Instructions:
1. Launch Eudora.

2. On the top toolbar got to the Special menu and choose Settings.

3. On the left side of the Settings window is a list of categories, the first one being Getting Started. Scroll down this list of categories and locate Fonts & Display. Click once on the Fonts & Display icon to select it.

4. On the right side of the Settings window will be various options. Make sure that the Display graphics in messages and the Automatically download HTML graphics checkboxes are selected. DO NOT click on the Ok button yet.

5. Scroll down the category list on the left side of the Settings window and locate Styled Text. Click on the Styled Text icon once to select it.

6. Make sure that all of the checkboxes are selected under the heading When receiving styled mail, pay attention to as shown below.

7. Click on the Ok button. You will now be able to view HTML formatted email messages.

Macintosh OS 10 - 10.2

Windows NT/2000

Requirements:
1. The Eudora email client version 5.0 through 5.2 installed and configured on your computer.

Instructions:
1. Launch Eudora.

2. On the top toolbar go to the Tools menu and choose Options.

3. On the left side of the Options window is a list of categories, the first on being Getting Started. Scroll down this list of categories and locate Display. Click once on the Display icon to select it.

4. On the right side of the Options window will be various options. Make sure that the Automatically download HTML graphics checkbox is selected. DO NOT click on the Ok button yet.

5. Scroll down the category list on the left side of the Options window and locate Viewing Mail (directly below Display). Click on the Viewing Mail icon once to select it.

6. On the right side of the Options window will be various options. Make sure that the Use Microsoft's viewer checkbox is selected. DO NOT select the Allow executable in HTML content checkbox for security reasons.

7. Click on the Ok button. You will now be able to view HTML formatted email messages.

Windows XP
