Please download the instructions (800k PDF file) for using the Abaca Quarantine facility. Use the documentation to inspect the Quarantine facility, become familiar with it, and use it to manage your suspected spam.
Your District email address and password will provide you access to the Abaca Quarantine facility which is available thru any web browser using the following URL: http://quarantine.fhda.edu. Follow these steps:
- Start a browser (Internet Explorer or Mozilla/Firefox or Safari on a Mac)
- Enter the URL http://quarantine.fhda.edu; the Abaca quarantine login page should be displayed
- Enter your email alias address in the Enter email address or personal alias field (e.g.; smithmary@fhda.edu). Click the View Quarantine button
- In the Authentication Required dialog box, re-enter your email alias address and email password. Click the OK button
Once a day you will receive an email notification that email determined to be spam is in your Abaca quarantine. Click on the link in the email to access your Abaca quarantine. Use the attached instructions for maintaining your Abaca quarantine.
Reporting Spam
If an email gets to your in-box that you are 100% certain is spam and should be blocked each time the spammer tries to send it to you, do the following:
- Forward the message that you received to the following email address: spam@abaca.com
- The Abaca service will know that when you submit a message to spam@abaca.com, you are reporting the email address as spam to be blocked.
If you make a mistake and send an email to spam@abaca.com that you don't want the sender address to be blocked, do one of the following:
- Send an email to the individual that you classified as a spammer. This will automatically negate the Abaca spam classification
- If the sender that you blocked sends you another email message, it will automatically go into your Abaca quarantine where you can then release and approve sender from your quarantine inbox.
Note to Barracuda Quarantine Users
Some of you have the Barracuda quarantine function. This will continue to function and you may receive email notifications regarding any suspected spam that is stored in the Barracuda quarantine. As you did before, you need to act on the email stored in the quarantine.
Reporting Problems
If you encounter any problems with the Abaca service, contact the ETS/Call Center at x8324 and provide as complete a description of the problem as you can. The Call Center will create a ticket and assign it to the ETS/Systems department for prompt attention.
