The External Applications portlet allows users to connect to district web-based applications. Once logged-in to the portal, you can access the applications available to you without the need to log-in a second time. The External Applications portlet is on the "My Workplace" tab of your portal pages, and will look similar to the one shown here.

To open the selected application, you will be required to enter your account name and password only once, the first time you click on the link you want to use. For instance, if you choose the "FHDA Webmail" link above you will first see a window like this:

In this case you will enter your district Webmail account name into the "User Name/ID" field. For Webmail it is your "Universal Name" (sometimes called the "ugly name"). Enter your email password in the second field and click the "Login" button. Be sure the "Remember My Login Information For This Application" checkbox remains selected.
The Webmail application will open in a new window. The next time you click the "FHDA Webmail" link on your portal page you will not be asked for your name and password, and the new window will open directly to display your current messages.
In some instances your password to a particular application may change. In that case, you may get an error message when you try to open it from the link in the External Applications portlet. You should be able to resolve the problem by clicking the "Customize" link at the upper right corner of the portlet on the title bar. The following window will appear:

If you click on the "Change Stored Password" icon a window like the original login window shown above will appear, and you will be allowed to enter a new password. Note that you can also change the display name of the External Applications portlet and choose to not to display the link.
We recommend that you leave the name the same, and make sure the "Display" box next to each item is checked to avoid any confusion when contacting support. You can also change the name that is displayed as the link to the application in the portlet, but again it is likely best to leave the box empty, which will display the default application name.
